Our Story
It started with one food truck.
A family saw a neighborhood that needed somewhere to go. So they built it.
Why We Built It
The neighborhood needed a place.
This part of San Antonio didn't have somewhere families could bring their kids, bring their dogs, sit outside, eat something good, and just be together. We saw that. So we started thinking about how to change it.
Then one day, a food truck pulled up and parked in front of our property. The owner looked around at the open land and the soccer fields and said: you should turn this into a food park.
So we did.
We started with that one truck. Then another showed up. Then another. Word spread the way it does when something is genuinely good — person to person, family to family. People loved it because it was real. No dress code, no cover charge, no pretension. Just good food, open air, and a place where everyone was welcome.
Today Area 51 is home to a rotating lineup of local food trucks, live music every weekend, soccer fields, sand volleyball, and a kids play area built for all ages. We still show up every day with the same goal we started with: give this neighborhood a place worth gathering.
We built this for the families. For the food truck operators who needed a home. For the bands who needed a stage. For the kids who needed somewhere to run. And for the pets who needed somewhere to roam.
Come as you are. Stay as long as you want.
